Whirlwind activity! :P

Things have been absolute insanity here lately. Besides taking care of my precious little L.A. I took on a HUGE project nearly a month and a half ago. I can't really say much about it yet but on April 1st the proverbial doors will be thrown WIDE open!

I've also been working on some new 3d content. Deranged Dollies for Cookie and Deranged Dollies for Nina will be out SOON!

These are 2 of the Nina versions

And these are two of the Cookie versions.

Aren't they just adorable? ;)

Beyond that, I've done something I wanted to for a long time. I've started taking a bellydance class! I'm absolutely LOVING it too! I lost a ton of weight when I had Lily and beyond...now I want to tone. It's already working too! I've picked up several DVDs so that I have a good training regimen in place as I fully intend to continue with this for a LONG time to come. Hubby is loving it too ;) It's probably a damn good thing I was so addicted to Aromaleigh for so long. I have a HUGE stable of products to use for the stage. I am going to have to find a new eyeshadow primer though. My eyeshadow had creased after class Wednesday night :(

As of early Feb hubby is now a permanent resident so we're thrilled about that. No more gov't waiting game. I also know where about 1/4 of the fees go. Greencards aren't green anymore, nor are they paper. This thing is filled with micro chips and holograms. It was all so VERY worth it though. Man how things have changed in the last 9 years!

OK I have about a million things to do here. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Roses & Razors,
Me

  1. These are cute! I really like the last one. Her little outfit is great...I'd so wear that...

What kind of bellydance do you do? I've been studying different styles for the past 7 years. It's such an amazing dance and hard work!

  2. Hey Blix! I was actually going to message you for some advice, but hadn't made it that far yet LOL.

That last one is actually loosely based on Emilie Autumn so the outfit IS out there in the real world, just has to be bought in pieces. Thank you hun!

Right now, we're obviously just learning the basics of traditional Middle Eastern bellydance. This past week we were shown some moves of tribal fusion. The Tribal/Gothic fusion direction is the way I intend to go, but one must learn to crawl before they walk!

You said it sister! In TWO classes I can feel my stomach tightening. Hubby even commented on it. Having kids obviously wreaks havoc on the muscles and I'd heard a dozen people say bellydance was the way to remedy some of it. They weren't kiddin! I've picked up a half dozen or so DVDs because I fully intend to take this to performance level and there's only 2 classes offered here in town so I'll probably be doing a lot of it on my own.

Now as a fellow bellydancer I have a question. My shadow creased BIG TIME on Wednesday after just an hour in class, can you recommend one that you've found doesn't crease? A burlesque dancer I know suggested pixie epoxy with cream shadow. I want to steer clear of UDPP and TFSI if I can, just because of price. But if either of those works better then I'll give em a shot. Any advice?

ACK! I wrote a novel, sorry LOL

  3. The last pic is adorable!

I'd love to take on bellydancing but just haven't gotten myself around to do it.

I have heard that Pixie Epoxy is great but it isn't meant as a primer so most use it over a primer. I love UDPP but there are also people who can't stand it or it creases on them.

  4. Hey Duvessa!

Thanks so much, I've really worked hard on these and am glad I'm now in the final stretch!

Honestly, it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. It's not easy but it's one of the few forms of fitness/well being that you can see results pretty quickly!

Yeah I want the PE so I don't have to go through the mess of foiling. I may have to just bite the bullet and go with UDPP. If it lasts half as long as my AL primer has I'll get my money's worth and then some!

  5. Novel's are great! Now I have one for you! Hee hee. I started off learning traditional middle eastern when I was 17. Then moved to another state and there was only one instructor in the area, so I went with Cabaret. It's not really my style costume-wise, but the moves are still fun. Then I moved again and started learning American Tribal Style. It's OK but it's hard getting used to leading, following with cues and only doing things on one side of your body. On top of that, the form and technique is very different and we would always leave class with our shoulders burning. PAIN! It can be really awkward but I did it for almost 2 years, did a few performances and then moved on again. Now I'm back with traditional middle eastern. I love more earthy dancing. Turkish and Egyptian styles are so fun and flirty to me. Again, it's just the costuming that is overly glitzy and cheesy to me. I'm more into wearing tribal-fusion/steampunk gear and dancing however I want. I now have a weird mixture of traditional, tribal and club dancing. It feels better to be myself and not try to morph into something specific that doesn't feel like me. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Once you get to performance level, you should post a video! I'd love to see. :-D

In terms of makeup. I don't like UDPP mainly for the packaging. It's expensive and a lot of the product gets wasted in the tube. Rather lame. I use TFSI. It is pricey too, but it comes in a great tube so you can squeeze all of the product out and not waste any. You also only need a teeny tiny bit to use on both eyes. I put a dot of it on my ring finger, then press and swirl it on my other ring finger, then I apply to both lids at the same time, rubbing in gently. It works REALLY well. And since you only use a tiny amount, it lasts a really long time. I've had the same small tube for almost a year and it's not even half way used up. Which to me, makes it worth the price. :-D Depending on what look I plan on wearing, I will follow that with either Pixie Epoxy or Detrivore's eye primer. PE gives a more foiled/wet look and Detrivore's eye primer is for a more normal eyeshadow look, but it makes the colours POP. It's awesome. :-D If you read my blog, you'll see which ones I use for different shadows/glitters.

Ok, enough blah blah blah...hope that all helps!
