This week I FINALLY got my 16 yard circle skirt I ordered from ebellyfashion. Absolutely gorgeous and positively HUGE!

I'm glad I didn't get the 25 yarder. How do you girls dance in anything bigger than 16yd?? By the time I add hip scarf, hip dreads and all that I don't know if I'll even be able to stand up straight!
The other piece I got in the mail this week was my Flared Crinkle Pants from thaicraftwarehouse.

Cool, huh?
I knew when ordering them that I was taking a big risk. After all, most pants in this style run $50+. But for $25 with shipping, from Thailand, I figured if they weren't that great I'd just use them for practices and nothing more. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. Yes the flares are a bit see through (not that much though). However, in the hip/thigh area it's not bad at all. I still need dancer underwear just because I'd rather not flash anyone in my skirts.
This pair of pants I'll be wearing under the lovely chiffon split skirt my mother in law bought me in Turkey. She also bought me a beautiful sequined and coined butterfly top which, right now, is a bit too revealing for me to be comfortable in. The sequined belt and head wrap she got me though I'm totally in love with! Not that I don't love the top, but I'm only now beginning to be comfortable with my own body. Despite the fact I'm 6 sizes smaller than I've ever been in my life!
This weekend I'm going to start on some choreography for the first time since high school! Saturday is World Goth Day and since all the big stuff is happening next weekend (namely a CD release party for a local metal band) there's nothing going on Saturday. So what are we doing? Dark movies, Dark music and me doing fusion choreography. Hey whatever works, right? ;)
Several new ventures are about to start for myself and my beloved. Last month, Dreamweaver Digitals opened and we have some content to create for over there. Aside from that I've been working on our Zazzle shop. You can find it here Our Zazzle shop. I'm working to get ALL the Deranged Dollies stuff up as different products. I have prints and stickers done thus far. If you see something you want but it's not up as the product you want, let me know. I can get them up pretty quickly. I've also got some 8x10, 5x7 and ATC size (2.3x3.5 I think) prints on hand here as of this morning when the mail came. They'll be going to Etsy and be a smidgen cheaper than the Zazzle pricing. I'll make a quick post when they're up. Alternatively, you can find all the news about the dollies over here at the Deranged Dollies Facebook Fan Page.
Over there is where you can keep up with the new Couture line that is about to be launched. Yes, I'm going to start making costume pieces for sale under the name, Deranged Dollies Couture. It should've already launched but I had to have dental surgery and that's set me back a bit. Hip Dreads and wrist/arm cuffs are the first in the pipeline. I'll be expanding to all sorts of Bellydance/Fusion pieces in the near future.
The last thing, and the one I am probably most excited about is that I'm headed back to school in the fall!!!! We discovered that there's a Massage Therapy school less than an hour away. It's a 6 month course 2.5 days a week. I'm so totally excited about that. I also spoke to my dance teacher about it as that's her day job. She's also a Doula and I mentioned to her I'd checked into training but there's not another training session the rest of the year. Lo' and behold, she's working to put together a training class with her own instructor either at the end of this year or beginning of next. So to say we're busy is an understatement!
Hubby will be starting work hopefully next week as well. So all in all, things are finally looking up! And as usual I have written a novel LOL. This is what I get for not doing regular blog posts ;)
I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week!!

Sweet! Great clothing finds! I started out with a 15 yard skirt and eventually got the basic ATS 25 yard skirt...those things are heavy and have so much fabric. My first ATS performance I wore two layered together (purple underneath black) and it felt like I was wearing 50 skirts. :-D They create such beautiful movement when dancing though. You just get used to it after a while. When I started out dancing at 17, I thought a ten yard skirt was crazy...
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting started on some choreography. My dance partner and I are starting on Tribal lay backs and floor work. OMG our knees and thighs were so sore the first day. Then we got some knee pads.
If you are uncomfortable showing off your middle area, you can get a body stalking made of sheer or fishnet fabric (black or nude). I've seen that a lot amongst dancers and it's OK to perform in.
Sounds like you are getting lotsa other good things going as well. Seems busy but fun!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
