Our first hafla!! (Some pics)

Last Saturday we had our very first hafla and had a complete blast!! There are 6 of us in my troupe and while we need to fine tune, I think we're ALL pleased with how well we did.

My instructor had her Gypsy Princesses perform as well. The two little girls were absolutely adorable I might add! For obvious reasons, I won't put their pics up here.

After that, two dancers from Baraka Mundi performed. Charlotte and Sparrow did a marionette piece. You can't tell from the pics just how tall Charlotte is, but with the boots she's 6'7" and looks even taller because she's so thin. After that piece, Sparrow did a zill piece.

Sarah from Bryson City did a sword piece which was so incredibly beautiful. Yes, that's my instructor there behind the dividers LOL.

Then my instructor did a snake piece. Anyone that knows me knows I have a phobia LOL. Luckily I saw the snake backstage and was able to steel my nerves. It seems that no one has yet put up a good picture of her with the boa, but it's there, trust me LOL. That's Liam Niblack on the drums (former founding member of Baraka Mundi, who they still hire when they want live music).

Scratch that here's one that you can see the boa, as well as Sparrow on the accordion.

Afterward, we went to the free dance portion of the evening.

I had gotten my little one and was dancing with her on my hip. First her Uncle Erick (ok so he's one of my good friends husband, but you get the idea) comes and cuts in. Then her daddy takes her from him and I was playing with her LOL. Yep my hair was braided with yarn. OMG, 4 HOURS to get those in. I STILL don't have em all out, there were only 34 of em.

I think we were discussing with Sarah about doing a halloween hafla in Bryson City in this one. Just waiting on dates for it.

We had a pretty decent turnout, too. I was stunned that I had 12 people show up. Next up for me is TribOriginal October 7th-10th. Then the hafla in Bryson. After that I will be meeting with Onca to discuss working as staff for ABSFest! Yes I am SO stoked. Plus I'm continuing to plan one of my best friends gothic/horror/halloween wedding. Why yes, I AM still insanely busy :)
